Abstract
Osmanlı Devletinde ilk defa 30 Mart 1845 tarihinde kurulan polis teşkilatı kısa bir zaman sonra kapatıldıysa da yüzyılın son çeyreğinde tekrar hayat bularak ülke çapında teşkilatlanmıştır. Selanik’te 1876 yılından itibaren varlığı bilinen polis, vilayet çapında kurumsal yapısını oluşturmuş ve asayişi temin etmek için çalışmalar yapmıştır. Selanik, coğrafyanın kendisine sunduğu imkanlarla tarih boyunca bir cazibe merkezi olmuş, bir çok dinden, dilden, etnik yapıdan insana ev sahipliği yapmış ve onların kültürlerini yaşatmıştır. Polis teşkilatı Selanik kolluk sisteminin bir parçası olarak suçu önleme, aydınlatmada ve failleri yakalayarak adliyeye teslim etme konularında başarılı sonuçlar almıştır.

Abstract
Although the poliçe department established for the first time in 30th March 1845 in the Ottoman state was closed after a while its launch, it was revived again in the last quarter of the century and organised across the country. The police department, as an entity in Thessaloniki since 1876, formed the institutional structure within the province and worked to assure public order. Owing to its geographical advantages Thessaloniki has been regional destination across the state, host the many walks and ethnicities from the life and sustain their cultural accumulation. In such a cosmopolitan environment, Thessaloniki police organisation succeeded in preventing and elucidating crime; and also achieve the considerable results in handing over the perpetrators to the judiciary.
