Abstract
Kur’an’ı Kerim’in uzun bir zaman diliminde indirilmiş olmasının sebebini anlayabilmek için, indiği dönemde toplumun benimsemiş olduğu değerlerine vakıf olmak gerekir. Bu da, bize Kur’an’ın tarihte açtığı çığırın önemi ve büyüklüğüne işaret etmektedir. Çünkü Kur’an cahiliye dönemi alışkanlıklarını ve adetlerini yıkan ve yeni bir toplum modelini ortaya koyan, onların ahlaki, fikri, medeni ihtiyaçları için yol gösterici kuralları içine almaktadır. Böylece Kur’an, Allah’a ortak koşmayı redle, insanın bedensel ve ruhsal gelişimini esas alıp, bu dünyadaki tutum ve davranışlarla ahiret hayatı (ölümsüzlük) arasında ilişki kurmuştur.

Abstract
In order to be abble to understand why the Holy Quran has been revealed in a long term, one should be aware of the values embraced by the society. This in turn, shows us the importance and greatness of the rut blazed by the Holy Quran within the history. Because, the Holy Quran has demolished consuetudes and conventions of pre-Islamic age of Ignorance. Also the Holy Quran has introduced a new societal model. Lastly, the Holy Quran includes rules for the people living in pre-Islamic age of Ignorance, which are guiding principles for moral, intellectual and civil needs of these people. Thus, by abnegating to attribute a partner to God, the Holy Quran has predicated on physical and psychic development of human beings, and has related earthly attitudes and behaviours of human beings with after-life (immortality).
